TODAY'S SHOW: HMS Hardy played a pivotal role in the naval actions off Narvik in 1940, and showed the aggressive fighting spirit of British destroyer captains in their desire to bring Kriegsmarine units into a surface battle - despite the odds.

Scene, Downing Street: ‘How can we make ourselves even more unpopular?’ ‘Well, prime minister, we could allow Natural England to proceed with their plan to shoot 90% of the ponies on Dartmoor’ ‘Yes, that might do it.’
Exclusive from @oliver_wright Dartmoor ponies could be subject to mass culling to reduce the impact on biodiversity after a controversial ruling by the government’s environmental quango Natural England has demanded that all livestock grazing on the moor is reduced by about 75 per cent to protect other habitats, plants and species The move looks set to result in the culling of up to nine in ten of the semi-wild ponies as farmers prioritise their own cattle and sheep to remain within Natural England’s limit to minimise the impact on their own livelihoods Natural England argued that the move was necessary to protect the diversity of Dartmoor, which is a designated site of special scientific interest However, the plan goes against a government commissioned review into the future of Dartmoor, published two years ago, which concluded that Natural England “should not take actions likely to result in a reduction in pony numbers”, adding they were “invaluable for conservation grazing” The move has led to claims that the quango is acting as judge, jury and executioner of the ponies — a species which is itself seen as endangered Dartmoor ponies could be put to death under biodiversity plans thetimes.com/article/ba529f3…

Andy Burnham has moved beyond choosing to run for Labour’s leadership to being fated to win it. The real question is whether he can avoid the same fiscal and political doom loop that defeated Keir Starmer. Taking power may now be his fate. The next fate is never far behind.

Heading back up to Breville today… Will post a video and update following several meetings last week on a way forward to help support and raise awareness following the theft. There is a group trying to fund raise and then replace the piper at the 51st HD Memorial. @sommecourt @almurray @James1940 @WeHaveWaysPod @ww2research @AndyAitcheson @AlistairCarns

Gone viral re #TwoTierKeir and his #DigitalID plans (plus everything else they're doing that was never pledged) Thanks for all the DMs. I'm not monetised on here & I've nothing to sell you. Have a look at this from @almurray justgiving.com/page/al-murra…
Reminder. A social media ban was NOT in Labour's 2024 Manifesto. Neither was Digital I.D. Oh, or State Suicide. Or binning the two child benefit cap.

Of all missions, torpedo bombing was the most perilous; the RAF estimated a crew had only a 3% chance of surviving a 2nd tour. The reason was simple: they flew low and slowly along a straight path to fiercely defended ships. These are ten of the greatest hushkit.substack.com/p/top-1…

The cool thing about this is the album has no release date quite yet: we listened to it yesterday and will have to hang on to and digest that experience until it does come out. Like an anti-streamer, or a concert in the 19th century
Just went to immediate playback of @StevenWilsonHQ's forthcoming folk horror album. An utterly astonishing experience.
