String theory's version of Churchillian Drift: “An equation one inch long that lets us read the mind of God. These are Einstein's words." -@michiokaku Wonderful line. Wrong physicist. That's Hawking’s final flourish in A Brief History of Time, not Einstein -- Albert didn't live long enough to have a string in his eye.

My friend @romanyam spent 20 years trying to prove AI can be controlled — and concluded it's mathematically impossible, not just unsolved. I spent an hour trying to break that claim. Couldn't. Full conversation: youtu.be/jQ4PaUbhdhs?is=73jK… Pause frontier AI, or keep building? Let us know 👇

A lot of hurt feels in the replies in the comments proposing that the large numbers hypothesis is evidence (it's not, it's just an astrobiology version of the gambler's fallacy.) Other replies say "belief is totally fine for a scientist" Ok. So let's ask those same thousand scientists whether they believe in astrology and watch their body language change. Nearly all of them refuse, crucially, they refuse correctly. They don't say "I believe astrology is false." They say "astrology was tested, and it ate dirt." When Shawn Carlson's 1985 Nature double-blind trial ran real astrologers through a controlled experiment, they performed as well as the cosmic equivalent of a Mercury Dime flip. Do you really wan to go there?

I fact-checked Michio Kaku's biggest claims — quantum collapse of capitalism, Theory of Everything, black hole gateways. Watch: youtu.be/DN6z0dRd9qo Question for you: Does celebrity physics do more damage than good?

Michio Kaku just told 4 million people that dark matter is "the next octave" of 11-dimensional string theory. Evidence for that claim: none. Evidence for string theory's 11 dimensions? Also none. He's the best communicator alive. That's exactly why accuracy matters. 🪒New Keating's Razor: youtu.be/DN6z0dRd9qo

California is one of the most dynamic places on the planet. But it is a case study in how a rich society can spend more and more while producing less and less of what its ordinary citizens need. My take:

The best evidence for string theory reality is that it produced a lot of string theorists.

I disagree, but according to @neiltyson, @elonmusk’s business plans to go to Mars are “without precedent in the history of civilization” What do you think? youtu.be/k2UtRlpWSEk

Most "Theory of Everything" talk is wishful thinking in a lab coat. I joined @missmayim to make the case: a Grand Unified Theory has to come first — and nature only rewards theories we can actually test. Elegance isn't evidence. Full conversation: youtube.com/watch?v=IwFTWTbC…
