Great to attend Junior Achievement’s (JA’s) roll out of the experiential learning program and scholarship awards program. JA provides great programs in financial literacy and entrepreneurship for K12 students. I sponsored legislation to create a graduation requirement for CA students to learn personal finance. When students learn personal finance they generate less debt, are more likely to go to college, and whether they attend college or not they dramatically increase their lifetime earnings. Go JA! Go personal finance education!

Today, @CA_Supt Tony Thurmond attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Goldrich Cultural Center at the Holocaust Museum LA. This represents a major expansion of the museum’s campus, enabling it to educate more students about the lessons and relevance of the Holocaust.

Was great to visit William Land Elementary School in the Sacramento City Unified School District and to read with some of the students. Go Lions! Today was a school wide celebration as the students achieved their quarterly literacy growth goals. Great work by the principal, students, and staff. We are working to raise the funds to implement a five year statewide plan for helping all students read by third grade. Get in touch if you want to help.
