Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth! Here’s how it started and the symbolism of the Disability Pride flag!
ALT July is Disability Pride Month! The disability pride flag is in the background; it is red, yellow, white, blue and green with a charcoal background.
ALT What is Disability Pride Month? When the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law in July of 1990, the month of July became known as "Disability Pride Month." The first celebration occurred in Boston, Massachusetts.
ALT The charcoal background symbolizes mourning and rage for the victims of ableist violence and abuse, and the colored bands are placed diagonally to convey persons with disabilities “cutting across” societal barriers.
The CT Innovation Conference was an amazing success! GreAT turn out. Keynote, self-advocates & presenters were awesome. The Exhibit Hall & Smart Home on Wheels were packed! Enjoy more pics at facebook.com/CTtechact
“I want to leave a legacy of disabled people knowing we are powerful and beautiful because of who we are, not despite of it." -Stacey Park Milbern, a Korean-American disability rights activist. #WednesdayWisdom#Disability#Quotes

Did you know accessible design benefits everyone? Tools that you use day to day were built with accessible design and you may not even know it! It's so important to recognize that inclusion comes in many forms! #at4nj#inclusive#disabilityrights#accessibility#accessibledesign
ALT Teal background with kidney bean shaped dark blue abstract shapes around border. White lines outlining abstract shape in shape of kidney bean as well. Text reads: Did You Know Accessible design benefits evervone! Ever been in a crowded room and forgot your headphones? Captions to the rescue to watch videos! Hands too full to text?
