The Organizing Group (TOG) is a for-profit political consulting firm founded in 2005 by Steve Rosenthal, the former political director of the AFL-CIO, the largest American federation of labor unions. The firm markets direct voter contact, phone banking, direct mail, and door-to-door canvassing, as a more effective tool than mass media advertising for left-of-center political organizations, labor unions, and Democratic candidates. Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show that MoveOn.org, Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential Campaign, Working for Us PAC, and Emily’s List reported payments to The Organizing Group for political consulting services. influencewatch.org/for-profi…

Rising Majority is a left-of-center coalition of activist organizations that coordinates strategy and mobilization across labor, immigration, environmentalist, and racial-identity causes. Founded in 2017 following the Democratic loss in the 2016 presidential election, the coalition explicitly frames its work in anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist terms, and has called for the abolition of police and prisons, an end to what it characterizes as U.S. imperialist foreign policy, and a fundamental restructuring of the American economy. At its creation, the coalition operated as a project of the Movement for Black Lives, initially under the fiscal sponsorship of the Alliance for Global Justice, an organization which has supported communist and authoritarian regimes, and later was fiscally sponsored by the Common Counsel Foundation. Rising Majority later separated to become an project of Common Counsel independent of Movement for Black Lives in 2024. Approximately 55 organizations are members of the coalition, spanning racial, labor, environmentalist, and immigrant-advocacy networks. influencewatch.org/non-profi…
