The time capsule prophecy came true! 😱 A note buried in 1964, and found this year, told the finder to bet on Christmas Day...and he WON! Here's how the story unfolded πŸ‘‡ In 1964, a horse called Santa Claus won the Epsom Derby, in a race where he was help up early, then produced with a run down the centre of the course in the home straight. Christmas Day won the Derby in a very similar fashion, and it gets weirder... This April, a contractor was moving the bust of Sir Joseph Paxton in Crystal Palace Park when he found a sealed time capsule underneath. Inside: a few old coins and a note telling whoever found it to back a Derby runner whose name could be "associated with Santa Claus." The man who found the note, a Romanian man who's name "CrΔƒciun", literally translates to Christmas... With the information eventually passed from him to the Mayor of Bromley, Christine Harris, it was revealed, to her amazement, that there was a horse in the forthcoming Derby called Christmas Day. The construction crew & the mayor all put money on the horse, with Mrs Harris vowing to donate any prize money to two local mayoral charities. And in a remarkable twist of fate, Christmas Day, held up, angled down the centre of the straight, just like Santa Claus, eventually romped home at 7/1 for Aidan O'Brien. The prophecy came true. πŸŽ…

Edgard Zayas is incredibly lucky to walk away from thisβ€¦πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« Somehow, Zayas escaped with just cuts, bruises and a few bumps after his mount Glint launched him straight into the air at Belmont. One of the craziest thing you’ll see all year.

Aidan O'Brien when he got into the office this morning

🚨 BREAKING: Aidan O'Brien has stated that Gstaad and Albert Einstein were removed from the 2,000 Guineas due to an administrative error arising from a computer glitch. The trainer is still working to try and get both colts reinstated. O'Brien said: "There was a blip on the computer. Something happened, the computer went bananas and took out a couple of horses that weren't meant to be taken out. We are hoping to get them back in and could do with a bit of common sense being applied. The people here in the office were trying to take the horses out of the Dante, but the Guineas flashed up instead and that button was pressed. "They were pressing for the Dante but as they were pressing the Guineas flashed up. They weren't meant to be taken out of the Guineas and we are working on getting them back in."

My heart goes out to Sir Gino, who sadly was put to sleep this morning. πŸ’” πŸ—£οΈ Nicky Henderson described him as "One of the nicest, kindest horses you could ever wish to see". Our condolences go out to everyone at @sevenbarrows & the Donnelly's.

We have very sadly lost the battle to overcome Sir Gino’s ailment and he has had to be put to sleep at the veterinary hospital this morning. He has been fighting from severe deep-seated infections that he had overcome last year prior to his brilliant return in the Christmas Hurdle but this time it had spread too far although his fractured pelvis was healing well. He was not only brilliant but one of the nicest kindest horses you could ever wish to see and this leaves an awful hole in Seven Barrows this morning and a very sad day for Joe & Marie Donnelly. They have had some wonderful horses over the years and they both care so much for them so losing such a young star with his life in front of him is particularly cruel. Sir Gino was unbeaten in all his 7 starts including 3 Grade 1’s over hurdles and an amazing display in a Grade 2 Chase on his one and only start over fences. We would have to say that he was just at least as good as any of all the amazing horses we have been lucky enough to have trained. Unforgettable in every way.
