When I first got involved in politics, a comment like this from a politician would have been really big news. It’s really, really sad to me that this is now part of the mainstream debate.   Foreigners aren’t even allowed to buy existing properties in Australia.   So let’s call this what it is. Division and racism, in a country that doesn’t need any more of it.

When young people tell us they don’t think they’ll ever own their own home in Australia, something has to change.

New ABS data shows building approvals up 10.2% in April compared to a year ago. 16,700 homes were approved in April 2026, up from 15,200 in April 2025 and 13,600 in April 2024. This is particularly encouraging, as it provides our first look at housing activity since the start of the Middle East conflict. We’ve made significant progress in homebuilding – with approvals, commencements, and completions all higher than when the Albanese Government was elected. The Middle East conflict will continue to put pressure on construction costs, but we’re maintaining momentum, despite the challenging conditions.

Home ownership isn’t just about housing. It’s about what kind of country we want Australia to be.

John Howard made a huge mistake in 1999, that has cost the country dearly. Here’s why.

Australia should be a country where hard work, not what you inherit, gets you ahead in life.

Our housing system has been stacked against ordinary Australians for too long. That’s why we’re making changes to level the playing field for renters and first home buyers.

The worst kept secret in the CGT debate: there are plenty of Liberals who have been advocating for years to change housing tax concessions. They know the system is cooked, and that a government has to step up and change them. The Shadow Treasurer even wrote a book about it!

Finally a Liberal talking sense on housing. Yes, our budget will build more homes for the country.

Housing is a complex and difficult problem that's been building for 40 years. The idea that you can solve it quickly and easily - it's just disingenous. But we’re focused on a comprehensive approach that is tackling the problem from every single angle.

If you want to get ahead through property investment, we'll back you in. But to get access to those generous concessions, we want you to build a new home for the nation.

Some big housing news for the Sunshine State. The Albanese Government is partnering with the Crisafulli Government to build 51,000 new homes in Queensland.  And, we’re setting aside 20,000 of those homes just for first home buyers. More homes. More choices. More young Queenslanders getting a shot at owning a home.
