There is immense need and poverty worldwide. But right here in America, our own veteran community faces deep poverty and hardship. If you knew what I’ve seen, if you saw what I’ve seen, you’d understand why we must focus our efforts here first. Support Code of Vets as we relaunch to assess, assist, and sustain our heroes in crisis. Together, we can make a real difference at home.

If you disagree with the design of the @GWOTMF memorial for the GWOT Veterans, make your voices heard. We take care of our own... One Vet at a time.
Concerned citizens can respectfully contact the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts staff about the initial GWOT Memorial design concept on the National Mall. Email cfastaff@cfa.gov with brief, design-focused comments on elements like compatibility with the historic Mall setting, landscape features, and how clearly the memorial conveys lasting national significance per the Commemorative Works Act. Sample message you can adapt: “As a [veteran / Gold Star family member / constituent], I support honoring GWOT service members and families with a national memorial. However, the abstract symbolic design with vegetation-covered arches and reflection elements raises concerns that it may not provide sufficient direct recognition of individual sacrifice or fully align with criteria for surroundings relevant to the subject. I respectfully ask the Commission to consider revisions during concept review that strengthen commemoration while complementing nearby memorials. Thank you for your important work.” Personalize with your own perspective and send soon—concept reviews are upcoming. Your thoughtful input helps shape a fitting memorial. #GWOTMemorial

My Humble Opinion: It looks like a monstrosity for a few clear visual reasons: The glowing vertical slats vegetated arch create a creepy skeletal/ribcage effect at night — more like a giant glowing spine or monster jaw than anything solemn or honoring. The whole organic, grassy “embrace” structure feels like abstract sci-fi park art or a futuristic tunnel, not a dignified war memorial. It doesn’t evoke service, sacrifice, or the specific grit of GWOT deployments. Compare that to the simple power of the Vietnam Wall (names reflection) or the WWII Memorial (pillars, wreaths, scale). This one is too modern-art and disconnected. No names of the fallen either. Boots-on-the-ground vets deserve better than something that looks more like an alien artifact than a tribute. Just my honest take. Also, what do GWOT veterans think about this memorial?!?
Shaped by the voices of 20,000 Americans, including service members, veterans and Gold Star families, the Global War on Terrorism Memorial is one step closer to becoming a reality. The newly unveiled design will stand as a lasting tribute to the generations who served, sacrificed and supported loved ones in the wake of 9/11. gwotmemorialfoundation.org/g… #GWOTMemorial #GWOT

Hello @RapidResponse47 this is what Rapid Response/Emergency Assistance looks like. This was done in under 24 hours. I have raised nearly $8 MILLION and assisted more than 8K vets in real time. COV has been doing this for years. 24-48 hour timeframe…

You built this with your bare hands and sheer will — I respect it. But carrying every seat yourself isn’t strength anymore. It’s poor stewardship. The Prophet in you was never meant to also be the Apostle, Pastor, and everything else 24/7. Time to realign for real multiplication. Fall in! Today is another day of accomplishing the mission. Somewhere out there, one of our brothers or sisters has stumbled and fallen — and they need a hand up. We take care of our own. One vet at a time. No one gets left behind. At Code of Vets, that’s not just words — it’s what we do. We are building Code of Vets to be faster, stronger, and more efficient — so we can help more veterans, hold the line, and ensure no one fights alone. We are coming. If you’re a veteran feeling the weight today — reach out. We’ve got your six. If you can help — step up. The mission needs you. Drop a 💪 or “Here” below if you’re locked in and ready. #CodeOfVets #VeteransSupportingVeterans #OneVetAtATime #NeverAlone

Hey family, We’re rebuilding Code of Vets stronger than ever. The harvest is great, but the workers are few. We’ve seen too many of our brothers and sisters stumble — some beaten down by transition, some carrying invisible wounds, some just trying to find their footing again. We know that pain because we’ve lived it. That’s why we’re coming back stronger — to serve those who have stumbled, to walk with them, to lift them up, and to remind them they’re not alone. We take care of our own… One Vet at a Time. If you’re a veteran who’s been knocked down, or you know one who has — reach out. We’ve got your six. — Gretchen Smith @CodeofVets

Most leaders hire for the “kind” of person they think they need… but God designed people with a specific TYPE.
