As of today, there have been 100 launches this year w/ 6 failures. We use Rocketlaunch.live to keep track.
There are also 9 toilets in space. Tracking them is one of our raison d'être.

In today's After Hours, Pamela is joined by
@IBJIYONGI , Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, to discuss her new book, The Edge of Space Time. It's AMAZING & generated a paper storm of notes on Pamela's desk.

Did you know they plan to launch as much mass in Data Centers as US Farmers grow in soybeans?

In the pride flag (& most contexts), green represents nature & prosperity.
In aurora, green means oxygen has been excited by particles from the Sun, and after spending some time in that excited state, the electrons are settling back down and releasing a green photon as they go.
In the Pride Flag, the deep indigo stripe represents serenity and harmony.
The most famous indigo in space imagery is Neptune, as seen by Voyager 2 in 1989. This stormy ice giant has hints of white water vapor and blue methane in its primarily hydrogen and helium atmosphere.
Join us in exploring the pride flag.
The queer community has paid with blood to live their truth and that red stands for passion and the blood of life.
In astronomy, red is the color of glowing hydrogen, the most common atom in our Universe.

The orange stripe represents healing & reminds us fun / celebration are healing activities.
We used a segment of Mars with Hebes Chasma (left dark splotch). Mars has a lot of iron oxide minerals in its rocks & soils that are orange in color because rust.
Yellow is the color of the Sun, which supports all life... at least when in the Pride flag. Our real Sun is technically white, but our atmosphere makes it look yellow. Science sometimes lacks poetry. In science, yellow is doubly ionized Oxygen and warm gas in the Rosetta Nebula.
At the top of the hour (2pm Eastern / 7pm London) we're going live with this week's CosmoQuest After Hours.
Join us as we discuss exploring physics thru space flight with guest Trisha Muro, author of It's (Just) Rocket Science.

Martian wind.
A series of 126 x/y tilting mechanical devices connected to tall dried grass stalks by artist David Bowen. The mechanisms will tilt, move and sway based on data collected from the wind sensor on the Perseverance Mars rover.

Happy Pride!
This year NASA isn't allowed to celebrate. We're going to do our best to celebrate so hard no one can deny there is a place in space sciences for everyone.
Our first goal is to do the pride flag using space images. What are your favorite colors among the stars?
There is one less toilet in space.
With the safe return of Shenzhou 21 and its 3 person crew, there are now only nine (9) toilets in space.

No Boom yesterday. Boom today? There's been many (sonic) boom with Starship launches.
Flight 12 may be launching later today. If they do, we'll go live on Twitch.tv/CosmoQuestX once prop loading is started. This could be as early as 6:15pm Boston / 3:15pm

As astronomers, our lives are dedicated to both the ephemeral and the eternal.
And humans mean nothing to the universe (and everything to us).

Hey so we currently have 234 paid & 614 free members on our patreon and if every single free member subscribed at our $1/month tier it would solve most of our budget issues! patreon.com/cosmoquestx
Just between me and all you beautiful people in my phone, I would LOVE to ditch those automated ads on our publicly available podcasts because they're a pain in the ass to edit around. But that's how we're currently covering our software licenses.
If we got those 614 free members to subscribe at $1/month, we could be ad-free everywhere! ...which means we'd need to come up with new and exciting things to offer at that tier but damn, that would be a great problem to have. Please inconvenience us in this way.
