In India, life isn’t easy for daily wage workers, who form a big part of the country’s workforce but depend on informal employment opportunities. Payment delays upon completing jobs are a major concern. In a positive pilot, Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha (@HUDDeptOdisha), in association with eGov Foundation has completed the first set of successful payments to the daily wage seekers with the marquee MUKTA program via #MUKTASoft. #MUKTASoft, built on @digit_dpg 's DPI and utilising smart contracts and smart payments, stands out for its remarkable speed and efficiency in completing payments adhering to scheme guidelines. This digital transformation of payment is all set to change the lives of thousands of daily wage workers who rely on timely payments for their living. The pilot was conducted in the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) of Dhenkanal and Jatni, and the plan is to scale up to 23 Urban Local Bodies by the end of November.
