Effective teaching begins with awareness—of learners, their environment, and the resources around them.
Yesterday, facilitated by our Coach, Simon M., we trained Cohort 2 of @TeachForKenya Fellows on play-based pedagogy and the use of locally available learning materials.

What happens when coaching is structured and sustained? We’re seeing shifts in school leadership, teaching practice, and classroom environments.
The focus now is building the systems that make this possible at scale.

In education, impact happens when leadership connects policy to practice
At KEMI International Conference 2026, our CEO Steve Kariithi shared that when this connection is strong, teachers are better supported, school systems function more effectively & learning improves
What this looks like in practice is not abstract.
It shows up in how school leaders support teachers day to day, how decisions are informed by classroom realities, and how instruction is continuously strengthened

What does gender equality look like in practice inside a classroom?
Through our Leading Learning for Gender Equality program , school leaders and teachers are embedding gender-responsive approaches that improve learning for all.
How do you know, during a lesson, that both boys and girls are actually learning?
In Homa Bay County, we trained school leaders on Assessment for Learning—real-time classroom checks that help teachers adjust instruction and improve outcomes for all learners.
We’re excited to be at CIES 2026! Our team will share insights on strengthening school leadership, advancing foundational learning, and turning policy into practice in Kenyan schools. Let’s connect! #CIES2026#SDG4
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women on our team who give their knowledge, leadership, and support to make sure we all gain stronger teams, stronger schools, and better opportunities for every child.

Kenya’s shift to Competency-Based Education (CBE) is transforming our classrooms. Last week, we joined KEMI to launch our Breadth of Skills research report on teacher mentorship.
What is actually happening on the ground? Let’s dive into the findings. 🧵
How can we better support teachers before they enter the classroom?
Together with KEMI and APHRC, we brought together education stakeholders to examine evidence on mentorship and coaching frameworks for pre-service teachers.
A key discussion point: coaching as an enabler of quality learning.
Strengthening mentorship during teaching practicum is critical to bridging the gap between teacher preparation and classroom realities.
We also launched our Coaching at Scale Pilot Report, officially launched by Dr. Maurice Odondo, CEO of KEMI.
The report shares insights on strengthening coaching systems to better support educators and improve teaching practice. More insights coming soon
