London guitar brand Fairlane launched in 2020 as a pandemic-era necessity, founded by two music industry lifers, Kevin Williams and Reuben Gotto, who found themselves repairing instruments on their kitchen tables during Covid-19. Now, you'll see Fairlane guitars on stage with Beabadoobee, Olivia Rodrigo, Fontaines DC and Mogwai. The brand's flexible design philosophy – from the hybridised offset looks of their Zephyr and Camino guitars, to the mix-and-match pickup combos – and its agile two-person operation allows for uniqueness and customisation. “We try to combine everything that we think is best about guitars,” says Reuben Gotto. “That’s the beauty of the history of them: you've got so much cool stuff to pick from and everything has its merits in different situations.” Fairlane Guitars is on the Guitar.com cover. Fairlane’s guitars are offered in a range of relic’d options, but for its founders, ageing an instrument isn’t just about the cool factor. “Whether you like relic’ing or not, the fact that you pick it up and it feels like it has been played, that is what people want,” Kevin Williams says. “It's nice to have something that just feels like an extension of you when you’re playing it,” adds Reuben Gotto. “But there’s also this really organic experience, the enjoyment of texture and wood – there’s nothing wrong with liking that.” Read the full cover story about Fairlane Guitars: guitar.com/features/the-cove… #FairlaneGuitars #Guitar 📸 Fiona Garden for Guitar.com

“I grew up in a time where thrash metal, Anthrax sounded different from Overkill, Death Angel sounded different from Testament. They had their own sound,” says Ted Aguilar. guitar.com/news/music-news/d…
