Thomas Tuchel full of praise for “top referee” Clement Turpin, ref for England v Croatia. Turpin sent Tuchel off for repeated dissent when he was head coach at Bayern Munich during a controversial game with Manchester City in April 2023. “I would give him a 1 (the worst possible rating) from his first to his last decision,” Tuchel said at the time. Reflects now, “He was not happy with my behaviour in the match, so he gave me a red card. I was not happy with his performance in the match. It's always better to not speak about the referee as a coach. It's not always possible because it brings out emotion and it was a very emotional night, very emotional match and very important match in the Champions League. “But, if I get a red card, I don't hold it against any referee.
