Writing is complex. We all know that. ✍️ The July 2025 DfE Writing Framework reminds us that pupils need clear structure, careful modelling and time to rehearse before they write. That is where The Write Stuff feels so closely aligned. Through small sequences learning chunks, pupils can focus on one layer of writing at a time. Through sentence stacking, sentence construction sits at the heart of each lesson. Through 'chotting', kind calling out, teacher modelling and shared rehearsal, pupils hear, try and refine their ideas before writing. Grammar is taught in context, alongside vocabulary and authorial choice, so pupils understand how language creates meaning. For schools, the Writing Rainbow gives everyone a shared language for writing, from classroom practice to whole school CPD. Jane talks more about this via the video link below ⬇️ youtube.com/live/piWSBhC_GPc… Have a watch and think about what this could mean for your class or school.

Many children are a bit dyslexic, but only a few, like Aisha, get to 14 unable to read the clock and with a spelling age of 8. Whatever you say about SEND those children will always need help. Just saying. Aisha was also a genius.
