grew up poor.
A slum in Rugby, Cape Town. apartheid-era South Africa. one of an estimated 400,000 poor whites ; a statistic most people don't know exists.
no safety net. no family money. just the belief that building something was the only way out.
This is my story
@elonmusk and I have something in common.
We both grew up in South Africa.
The difference?
He grew up rich.
I grew up poor.
But we both left in search of opportunity.
And we both got laughed at for our ambitions.

Dear me
I know your scared
You feel old
And you feel like
maybe it’s too late
for one more time
in the arena
But you can handle this
You don’t come unarmed
Love
Me
I moved to London with 5 maxed-out credit cards and ~£1,000 to my name.
My plan wasn't to make money.
It was to get my money back FAST.
That's when I learned the secret to scaling:
The best businesses don't use their own money to grow.
They use customer money.
Customer #1 pays for Customer #2.
Customer #2 pays for Customer #3.
That's how you build a money machine.
You pay back the credit card and have money to live
Over and over and over
That’s how I bootstrapped
That’s how I could afford to move from South Africa 🇿🇦 to the UK 🇬🇧
