The FBI is legally authorized to use counter-UAS capabilities to detect, assess, and mitigate unauthorized drone activity within restricted airspace, while preserving evidence for potential enforcement action. The FBI and our interagency partners will thoroughly investigate illegal drone activity to protect U.S. national security, promote safe air travel for the public, and protect individuals on the ground.
Before every flight, drone operators should check for active flight restrictions using an FAA-approved B4UFLY service provider. A list of approved providers offering free airspace awareness tools for desktop and mobile is available at faa.gov/uas/getting_started/….
With more people in town over summer, we want to remind locals and guests to always use caution catching rides.
