So proud of this partnership πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ I personally onboarded CMIC, the first & largest CRO in Japan, last year, and watching their unmatched domain expertise & craft meet Bluenote's AI has given us a real glimpse of what's possible for this industry. Excited to go deeper together!
πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰Today, we are announcing a strategic partnership with @CMIC_Group, one of the largest CROs in Asia-Pacific. πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ‡°πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί CMIC pioneered the CRO industry in Japan 30 years ago. They have built their reputation as one of the most trusted CROs in the world, running thousands of clinical trials globally for biopharma sponsors. Now, CMIC is becoming the first major CRO to deploy AI agents across clinical development, delivering a fundamentally better way to run clinical programs for patients and biopharma sponsors worldwide. We are proud to be their AI partner, and usher in a new era of drug development together.

Asked Codex to internationalize our app and localize it into Japanese before bed last night. Woke up to complete Japanese support this morning πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ What would have taken a few days was done overnight.

Talking to animals (or babies) using AI is happening fast…
The wildest company pitch I've ever heard? πŸ€” I told @katelin_cruse it's gotta be an app that allows us to communicate with babies before they can talk... or even dolphins πŸ‘ΆπŸ¬ And someday, we might actually get there thanks to AI ↓

Apoorva on how to evaluate businesses as a founder: "The things that I'm looking at are sort of threefold. Number one, is it a good business? Obvious to say as an investor, but you'd be surprised. Number two, is it going to be something I'm going to enjoy doing? I'm going to have fun? And number three, is it a mission that I can get behind? The advice that you normally get is the opposite of that. Oh, is it a good mission? Is it going to be something fun? And is it a good business? Right. But the reality is that if it's not a good business, you're not going to have fun doing it and you're not going to achieve the mission. So you sort of need to sort of reverse it as a founder."

"The errors found and commented on, are not enough to hinder the version’s linguistic integrity." - a professional Spanish translator. AI translation is getting really good.
22 Nov 2023
Tested translating an English article to Spanish and had it blindly evaluated by a professional translator. Results: - Google Translate: 70/100 - GPT-4: 85/100 - Zeebra: 95/100 πŸ† The key takeaway: Zeebra excels in capturing formality, grammatical gender, cultural references, and overall readability.

This aligns with my experience in translating from English to Japanese. For instance, translating culturally specific references, such as "Hot Vax Summer," poses a significant challenge for machine translation models. πŸ‘‡

More test on Elevenlabs vs OpenAI TTS - Elevenlabs is more engaging which is important for entertainment use cases. - OpenAI TTS occasionally doesn't follow the exact text (similar to tortoise/bark) For video translation, Elevenlabs generally sounds better for now. OpenAI is still great for use cases such as LLM chat and accessibility because of the quality vs cost tradeoff.

Here's a quick test of OpenAI vs. Elevenlabs TTS: - In English, Eleven sounds more animated and has studio quality (44.1kHz vs. 24kHz); however, OpenAI is also very good and would make sense for many use cases, especially given its 10x cheaper price point. - In Japanese, OpenAI personally sounds better and makes fewer mistakes in Kanji readings. Eleven makes quite a few Kanji mistakes but hallucinates less than OpenAI.

The cost of a realistic text-to-speech API (with premade voices) has decreased 10x with the launch of OpenAI's TTS service: - OpenAI: $0.015-$0.03 per 1,000 characters - Other startups: $0.18-$0.20 per 1,000 characters This makes freemium/consumer apps feasible that uses TTS.
