This model is something that we've been internally testing and hope to share with the community later this year.

What does this mean for our community? This enhancement will make it much easier to record more litter in less time, which is especially important in situations where the concentration of litter is very high.

1 bag - 251 items/pieces lifted from Ballyholme Beach on a warm & sunny day. Most of what I lifted came from one end of the beach where lots of small plastic accumulates inc. 34 cottonbud sticks, 14 bottlecaps, 14 biofilters, 11 nurdles, 1 rawlplug, 1 foam dart & 1 tile spacer!

As of March 2022, the @litterati community has covered 15% of walkable streets, sidewalks, and parks throughout the City of Oakland. In fact, we have comprehensive coverage in the downtown area and around Lake Merritt.

At @litterati, we developed a way to compare #LitterData coverage in any geographic area around the world. Knowing where our community has already collected data is useful, but perhaps what is even more exciting is the ability to see areas that have yet to be explored.
