President Trump offered Iran the best deal they could hope for. They responded by shooting down an Apache. Which sounds like a signal that Lebanon may come off the table in return for a nuke deal. Nobody is going to get all they want here and while not finishing Hezbollah may be a bitter pill, getting the nuclear dust is the ultimate goal. The alternative is to start delegitimizing the regime with public statements and begin a slow roll to actual sovereignty for its people rather than tyranny by an apocalyptic theocracy. Not a US invasion but a full force of diplomatic, economic and other forces to grind the last remnants of the regime to dust. Then the conditions can be set for a better future for its people, the region and the world.
