Zack Heil is 19. He started Call Your Bros after buying a sandwich for a stranger at a Hamilton Subway at 1am. Trevor McLaughlin is on the other side of it; in 2022 he was put on a 14-month therapy waitlist and applied for MAID instead. Trevor’s still here, and in June 2027 he’s biking 8,200 kilometres across Canada. Two guys, twelve years apart, on what nearly didn’t happen. .@MHRCanada and @GreenShieldCo have released a new report, highlighting not only the struggles of young men in Canada but the need for improved mental health support that keeps them engaged. The data shows the need for updated support capabilities and clarifies where young men seek support and how to reach them more effectively. Our teams agree: we need to meet young men where they are and provide the right support. At CMHF, we’re building programs grounded in exactly what this research points to: peer-led, activity-based, and designed with young men rather than for them. Being of service is a service for yourself, too. Acts of service give men a better understanding of what they want and what help looks like. It centres our own problems, while getting to the core of why we often find it so difficult to reach out to others when we're in need. The national engagement process that will help inform Canada's first Men and Boys' Health Strategy has now been completed. The input gathered over the past several months will play a vital role in improving the lives of men and boys for generations to come, building stronger families, vibrant communities, and a resilient, productive economy. Kenton Boston, President & Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Men's Health Foundation, shared the following in today’s release from Health Canada: "The completion of this consultation process marks an important milestone in recognizing the unique health challenges facing men and boys across Canada. We commend the Minister and her team for engaging Canadians, health experts, community organizations, and people with lived experience in shaping what we hope will become a meaningful and lasting strategy. The Canadian Men's Health Foundation looks forward to continuing to work with the Government of Canada and partners across the country to ensure the final strategy leads to measurable improvements in the physical and mental health of men and boys, resulting in stronger families and healthier communities. We believe in a world where no one should feel alone.” See today’s full release here: canada.ca/en/health-canada/n…

Men who are at risk of gambling-related harm are found to be nearly twice as likely to experience anxiety and are at over 2.5 times the risk of depression. We often get approached by golf tournament organizers wanted to raise funds for CMHF and our programs. It’s been truly amazing to connect with and be supported by so many organizations across Canada. But what if we could help do more? Our team is introducing new ways to bring CMHF resources to golf tournaments and other live events, starting with The Shea Emry Experience—a long-drive competition hosted by former CFL linebacker, two-time Grey Cup champion, TEDx speaker, and CMHF National Champion, Shea Emry. To learn more about The Shea Emry Experience and how we’re bringing more resources to our fundraisers, check out our latest article: menshealthfoundation.ca/acti…
