So far, officers have made 58 arrests for supporting a proscribed organisation. Further arrests are under way. A short section of the Strand, between Aldwych and the Royal Courts of Justice, has been closed to allow officers to safely make arrests.

The protest outside the Royal Courts of Justice has concluded. Officers made a total of 117 arrests for expressing support for a proscribed organisation. A short section of the Strand, between Aldwych and the Royal Courts of Justice, is now fully reopened. Separately, colleagues from @CityPolice made two arrests for support of a proscribed organisation at a protest at the Old Bailey.

There is an increased police presence in Edgware this afternoon due to today’s event at Edgware United Synagogue and protest and counter-protest. Six protesters have been arrested so far for public order offences and criminality will not be tolerated.

A total of 14 arrests (correction from earlier 15) were made during today’s policing operation: Five for violent disorder (one person also arrested for assault on an emergency worker) Six for Section 4a Public Order Act offences (four of those for racial/religiously aggravated matters) One for Section 18 Public Order Act offences One for assault on an emergency worker One for common assault. Those arrested have been taken into custody.

Nine years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the thoughts of us all at the Met are with those who lost loved ones, those who survived and all those affected. They have our commitment the Met’s complex and diligent criminal investigation into the fire continues. We are on track to submit all files to the Crown Prosecution Service by the end of September so they can make charging decisions.
