🎉 We did it. SB 2821 - the bill for free period products in all @HIDOE808 schools - passed the final committee hurdle yesterday. It now moves to the Hawaii House for a final vote.

When they leave hs, I always hope that their dreams are realized and that they have the determination to reach them.

If you support eliminating the Department of Education, you do not support our students. Period.
@USEDgov provides funding for:
✅Students w/ disabilities
✅Rural students
✅Programs that make college affordable
This would be bad for students, and bad for America.

I get asked why I went from being open to limited school voucher systems, to being a fierce critic now.
Answers:
1) the results came in—and they were horrific.
2) what’s kept them going is a Christian Nationalist moment I reject and denounce.

Let’s be a nation that embraces this kind of warmth and vulnerability, instead of making fun or mocking it. We could all use some of Gus’s example in our own lives.
