Trying to make the real world a better place as a mom of twins and writer. Trying to make the online world a better place via user testing. (she / her)
My mom grew up picking cotton in the 1950s. Yesterday, she waited in line to once again pick her son to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate. We’ve come a long way, but the work isn’t done!
Please vote, Georgia 🗳
Today the NIH announced the launch of makemytestcount.org, the first national website for Americans to self-report at-home COVID-19 test results. These data will be shared with local public health systems and researchers.
BREAKING: Donald Trump, who tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election and inspired a deadly riot at the Capitol in a desperate attempt to keep himself in power, has filed to run for president again in 2024. n.pr/3THqnJM
This. Bringing guns to “guard” a voting box is one piece of a larger, very disturbing puzzle. And I feel obliged to point out that it’s a preschool-level puzzle and we can all clearly see the end picture. So maybe let’s treat all of this with some sense of urgency?
Every time I see a sample of Meta, all I can think is, “Did you actually *read* Snow Crash? Really pay attention? Because you seem to have missed some key plot points.”
First, not a great future. Is that really the goal? Really? (Okay, I can actually see some at Meta saying, “Yeah! Meta Franchise, sign me up!” So, there’s that.)

There were plenty of warnings that weren’t taken seriously about Roe being overturned, so here we are. There are also plenty of warnings that this decision could lead to overturning Obergefell (and other important precedents). We need to listen. Here’s a good short write up…
To all my teacher friends and teachers in general: I appreciate you every single day, but it’s always good to be reminded to say it out loud. Happy teacher appreciation week! What you do matters; thank you for being a teacher.
This is an important point. Regardless of the interaction, at the heart, we should never normalize cruelty. It’s not okay. Everyone involved in crafting and approving that joke should answer for it.
Interesting quick background on agriculture in the Ukraine, how it impacts current fighting (why Russia has to stick to roads for now), and how devastating it could be to food prices in the region if this conflict is still on when the ground hardens in summer,
