If your car hit a live electrical wire, would you know what to do? While driving through Gloucester, MA, our Meter Service Technician Joe G. saw a live wire across the roadway. A driver unknowingly ran over it, and the wire became tangled in their wheel axle. Joe immediately took action - signaling for the driver to stay inside, keeping others back, calling 911, and alerting our Electric team to secure the area. His calm, quick response prevented the situation from escalating and earned him a Lifesaving Award. ⚡👏 If your car ever comes into contact with a live wire: ➡️ Stay inside your vehicle ➡️ Call 911 ➡️ Keep others away ➡️ Only exit if there’s fire and if you must, jump clear with both feet together and shuffle away We’re grateful for Joe’s quick thinking and his commitment to keeping our communities safe. 💛

Our investment in the energy future of Britain and the US Northeast is accelerating. With regulatory support in both the UK and US, we are expanding the record-level of investment announced in 2024 by £10 billion to at least £70 billion over the next five years by FY2031. This expansion recognises the broad change taking place across the energy system today. Electricity networks must increase capacity to respond to network growth and drive forward innovation in both the UK and US. The increase in efficiency will help industries grow and our customers and communities can prosper. Read more about our investment 👉 otp.tools.investis.com/clien…

We’re sorry for the disruption caused by a fire at our North Hyde substation and for the loss of power supplies in the area. Teams have been working around the clock to restore power as soon as possible. Working in partnership with the local network operator SSEN Distribution, the network has been reconfigured to restore all customers impacted, including the ability to resupply the parts of Heathrow airport that are connected to North Hyde. This is an interim solution while we carry out further work at North Hyde to return the substation and our network to normal operation. We are continuing to work closely with all stakeholders to manage this incident, and are focused on returning to normal resilience levels as soon as possible. Our restoration team of more than 2,400 field workers is active across Upstate NY as severe weather continues to hover over the region. Heavy snowfall, damaging winds, below-freezing temperatures and unsafe travel conditions are expected to continue for the next few days. Our crews will continue to work around the clock to assess new damage, clean up extensive debris, and restore service where it is safe to do so during the ongoing storm. We are working closely with local officials, first responders and other key emergency response personnel to coordinate restoration efforts. Please keep safety a priority and contact 911 if you require emergency assistance. Also, please remember to use extreme caution near downed power lines and wires; always assume that they are carrying live electricity.

🔌 We've just connected @TagEnergy1's new 100MW/200MWh storage facility to the grid in North Yorkshire, making it the UK’s largest transmission connected battery. Battery storage, or battery energy storage systems, are devices that allow energy from renewables, like solar and wind, to be stored and released when needed. This is a key moment in the pursuit of UK clean energy targets: natgrid.com/3t Here's the point of connection at our Drax substation 👇
