Former York Lions midfielder Niko Sigur has been named to Canada's Men's National Team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A member of York's 2021 OUA squad, Sigur made his mark in the postseason, scoring the dramatic extra-time winner that sent the Lions to the OUA championship.

Chris Zimmerman, a fourth-year setter and captain of the Queen’s Gaels men’s volleyball team, is using his voice to help 2SLGBTQIA student-athletes find community, representation, and connection.
A two-time #OUA Champion of EDI Award recipient and winner of the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award of Excellence, Zimmerman has made a lasting impact at Queen’s by championing inclusion as co-president of the Varsity Leadership Council and helping lead the creation of the inaugural Queen’s Volleyball Pride Games.

Mikisiw Awashish, a fourth-year forward on the McGill Redbirds men’s hockey team and two-time #OUA Champion of EDI Award recipient, has had a strong desire to reconnect with his family’s culture.
To deepen that connection and celebrate his heritage, Awashish organized a two-day trip for the McGill Redbirds to face the UQTR Patriotes at the local rink in his home community of Mashteuiatsh, Quebec, on the shores of Lac Saint-Jean.
