This is such a tiny piece of limestone but still an absolute favourite - a wee Loxonema gastropod sat on top of a bryozoan that is lying on a crinoid ossicle, which is on top of a brachiopod fragment! Rocks are awesome. 330 million years old from Fife, Scotland 🏴
ALT Image of an index finger holding a small oval shaped bit of creamy brown coloured limestone which measures 11mm top to bottom. In the centre is a gastropod which has a tall spiral shell resembling a unicorn horn. Underneath is a net like texture - this is a fossilised bryozoan. The bryozoans are lying on top of a circular disc which is the ossicle of a crinoid. The crinoid is on top of a fragment of brachiopod shell which shows some preservation of its original shell.
