Today, Oklo and @standardnuclear announced a strategic alliance to explore commercial collaboration on nuclear fuel recycling and advanced fuel manufacturing. Together, Oklo and Standard Nuclear will explore how materials recovered from Oklo’s planned fuel recycling facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee can support new fuel for advanced reactors. Oklo and Standard Nuclear also intend to explore the responsible use of U.S. surplus plutonium for advanced reactor fuel, following both companies’ recent selection by the @ENERGY for advanced negotiations under the Surplus Plutonium Utilization Program. Used nuclear fuel and surplus nuclear materials contain significant untapped energy potential.
