I’ve had a few people ask me about this so will do a quick excerpt:
1- DO NOT BULLSHIT. Seriously. This might work for most interviews but when you are interviewing with someone competent, they will see right through it. I’d much rather hear someone say “I don’t know” over an elaborate word dump.
2- If it’s on your resume, you better be able to go deep on it and educate me. Someone who actually did the work gets excited talking about the details of their accomplishments/get interviewers to understand their work and it’s very obvious when that’s not the case.
3- Might not be true for most interviewers but when I interview people, I genuinely want to help you pass. Being able to communicate and ask for help properly is a massive signal for operating in ambiguous environments as long as you don’t beg for being handheld.
There are a few more things people mess up often, might write an X Article if there’s more interest
I root for anyone I interview, I really hope that they pass. People keep making the same mistakes over and over though, it’s a little sad
