VS Code was already used by millions of developers for agentic coding. However, the editor layout has traditionally been optimized for single-task and single-workspace workflows. Today, we're introducing a new window to enable our users (and ourselves!) to work with multiple agents across multiple projects: Agents. Now available in VS Code stable!

We're loving not just MAI-Code-1-Flash, but all the new MAI models. What are some fun experiences we should build into @code and GitHub Copilot app with them?
What happens when speech, transcription, and coding models work together? This prototype demo, built using a VS Code fork, showcases how MAI-Transcribe, MAI-Voice, and MAI-Code-1-Flash can work together in a unified workflow to transform spoken instructions into working code.

In all the big news about the GitHub Copilot app, you might have missed this. Maintainers can now set WIP limits for contributions from people outside the project. Thanks to the folks from our maintainer summit in May who helped the team design this feature.

Replace `https` with `gh` on any repo on GitHub.com to open in the Copilot app!
We added a hidden trick for cloning repos on the GitHub Copilot app because nobody should have to copy URLs

A little behind the scenes on the Mermaid diagram work ✨ This started as “how can generated diagrams be easier to read?” and quickly turned into rounds of exploration. Diagramming is a problem space we’ve been exploring at GitHub, and I’m glad our design team could bring more craft into the details.
Mermaid Diagrams in the GitHub Copilot app just got an upgrade ✨ Flowcharts now have a clearer styling, useful actions, and a focused dialog view for deeper inspection, all with nice theming.
