Last week, Jason Stanek, Executive Director of Governmental Services for PJM, joined a group of panelists at the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia to discuss the key drivers and possible solutions to recent increases in the generation portion of customer bills for those in the district.
Stanek kicked off the session by outlining the imbalance between electricity supply and demand that’s leading to higher prices and discussed a series of actions PJM is taking to help address it. He also noted the steps that state and local policymakers can take to bring rate relief to utility customers.
PJM’s most important priority is the reliability of the grid for more than 67 million people. This work requires close coordination with states throughout its 13-state (and Washington, D.C.) footprint.
