On this day in 1988, Pink Floyd released One Slip as a single in the UK. There was a 7" (with a pink vinyl variant), 12", and 5" CDSingle, and included Terminal Frost plus a live version of The Dogs of War. The London Underground had this as a huge poster to spread the word to commuters and visitors alike:

Released today in 1969 was Pink Floyd's first album without Syd Barrett, the soundtrack to the film More. Director Barbet Schroeder's film was set principally in Ibiza, and looks at the effects of heroin addiction. Roger Waters: "[Schroeder's] feeling about music for movies was, in those days, that he didn't want a soundtrack to go behind the movie. All he wanted was, literally, if the radio was switched on in the car, for example, he wanted something to come out of the car. Or someone goes and switches the TV on, or whatever it is. He wanted the soundtrack to relate exactly to what was happening in the movie, rather than a film score backing the visuals." The soundtrack album was therefore the only way to hear the music properly.

Appropriately for a College of Art (in this case, Hull) this 1967 Floyd gig had a hand drawn poster. Dan Ranson was the artist; he included a line from the much loved poem The King's Breakfast by A. A. Milne.

The Floyd played three nights at the now-demolished Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, which had a concert capacity at that stage of over 100,000... Did any of you see them there (or elsewhere on the 1994 Division Bell tour)?

Today in 1995, Pink Floyd released P.U.L.S.E. in the UK. The CD included a flashing red LED light. Nick Mason explained: ‘Essentially, it's a device which we thought was entertaining. It's an idea of Storm Thorgerson's which related to Dark Side and the pulse, and it's a live album so the box is “alive”. After that, in terms of seriously deep meanings, one might be struggling a bit.’ Here's an unusual image of the eyeballs in a forest:
