another last minute update for the Zero Sum Demo. A detailed combo guide, it's not part of the tutorial, this one stays very short and teaches the basics, but for everyone who wants a deep dive into the combo mechanics, there is now a 3 page long explanation in the loadout

since i explained the combo system of Zero Sum on instagam, might as well do it here here is how it works: the whole combat system is designed to reward clean math combos and encourage operator variety, so there are three parts to it: - smart plays: clean divisions, roots, modulos, multiplication below *1. e.g. 14/2 = 7 is a smart play, because it divides the 14 cleanly into something smaller - lazy plays: -1, 1, *1. they can combo with each other, they dont give penalties, but are not considered smart plays, cause it's super lazy, but -1 and 1 can of course finish combos without any penalty - unclean plays: 15/2 =7,5 7.5, which results in a "7" enemy and a second, smaller "5" enemy, which is an unclean play and breaks the combo combining smart plays leads to clean combos, which lead to clean combo chains and ultimately into perfect waves, which give the most amount of rewards for the in-between-wave shop and the upgrade tree. lazy and unclean plays will break your perfect wave progression. so there are 2 extremes to beat a level: low operator spam (lazy/uncleans) and smart operator usage. both can lead to success, but the spammy way is harder :) pro tip: the easiest way to get perfect waves early on is with the multiplication slow field upgraded to *0.9, its very beginner friendly, slows enemies, increases combo counter and counts as clean play. drawback is the extreme increase in ammo cost.

Never wake up a sleeping number, unless your math is flawless. 👀 I thought dividing 134 by 2 was a safe opener, but it dropped it straight down to a 67. Which is a prime number, completely resists division attacks and triggers a hyper-speed enrage. Know your primes or get run over. Try ZERO Sum during the Steam Next Fest!

booked an agency for some visibility push for pancake patrol during the current bullet fest. didn't really work 🙃

I let the Matryoshka boss spawn way too many enemies. The math is mathing too hard. I’m drowning in numbers. 💀

When the screen gets too crowded, hit them with the Modulo Blast. It nukes everything divisible by your operator. Clean wipe. 💥

new update coming to the Zero Sum Demo later today - Summation Serpent head now charges the player when no more segments are to be cleared (can be stunned by clearing the number that breaks off the serpent) - Factorial Factory now spawns smaller and much slower factorials on the last two phases - Added two more upgrades to basic division (start with /5 and start with /10) - "Start with"-values can now be adjusted in the loadout if unlocked via upgrades - Map selection boxes now show the highest achieved grade
