How can I ensure my kids never lose their sense of self and intuitive knowing? Never take it away from them in the first place.

It’s concerning to see so many educators and families absolutely missing the underlying problem to “bad behavior” and anxiety. It’s the school itself people! Let them learn and grow their way.
So many misapprehensions here, but also we see how parents and children recognising that school isn’t working for them is framed as ‘anxiety’ (which implies irrational) as opposed to a clear-sighted realisation that there must be a better way to learn. standard.co.uk/news/uk/ofste…

Treating children like they are human beings with human rights shouldn't be radical or revolutionary. It's just the Golden Rule. What's extreme and dangerous is the mental and ideological gymnastics adults use to justify *denying* children their humanity and rights.

'We were told we had to force her to go, or she'd get more anxious and we'd cause long term school refusal'. Parents often tell me that professionals tell them that unless they force their child into school, their anxiety will get worse. Here's why this is not a good idea.1/

We’re transitioning into the teen years and it made me reflect on my role as an unschooling mom. I wrote about some of the ways I hope to support them in the coming years. roguelearner.com/blog/tips-f…

Having free thinking kids is so eye-opening. They set you straight often and point out injustices all day long. It’s exhausting. (Yet, amazing)

I choose to unschool because I believe in liberation of all people, and I think it needs to begin with children.

I love when the Amazon delivery person hides my package and I randomly find it. I feel like a kid again!

My daughter and the neighbor have made $12 in two days selling painted rocks from the backyard. What legends! #kidentrepreneur #selfdirectedlearning

The whole conversation around forcing children to do certain things needs examined. I love how Naomi breaks it down here. When we force kids to do something, they feel powerless. Does making someone feel powerless resolve the problem? History tells us no.
I work with children who are unhappy at school. One family told me what a therapist told them to do with their school-refusing 5-year-old. 'Put on his uniform', he said, 'and don't let him do things he likes until 3pm. Don't interact'. Here's why that is a misguided idea. 1/

You get the itch to learn something new, what’s the first thing you do? And, go.

Interesting, I search the web sometimes too, but if I really want to know how to get good at something, I prefer learning from a friend or finding out how someone else learned it. You know, I ask folks who are skilled at it how they got so good at said thing.

My daughter created these things without a single formal lesson. Why? Because she wanted to give her cousins a gift. When you have a reason to learn something, you learn it. She’s 11.

For every $100 a white family holds, Black families hold just $5.04. Here's how America created its shameful racial wealth gap — and what we can do to fix it.

A friend of mine said her son was told to be less social during class. Thanks to that school for giving me the perfect example to illustrate a point; homeschooling actually provides more meaningful ‘socialization’ than school.
