SGA is dead nice. Undeniable. His mid range game, his pace, etc. So the criticism of “he’s only good because of refs” is lazy and obviously untrue, but the criticism of his style of play is consistent enough that dismissing it entirely is just dishonest. There’s a difference between attacking contact while genuinely trying to score and prioritizing creating officiating dilemmas, and even when refs don’t reward it, anyone who’s watching still registers the intent…which is why you actually have to watch the games instead of just reading the box score. A lot of times it just feels like watching somebody tryna play the system instead of play basketball…very video game 2k glitch that basically is “I know how to enter the animation that makes the defender legally lose.” Reality is we don’t watch basketball just to see the outcome, we watch to see how the outcomes are produced. SGA is dead nice but the critiques are not ALL just fluff.
