🆕News: On May 15, the Ikeda Center for Peace, Learning, and Dialogue held a Dialogue Nights event in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. The evening brought together 51 college students and young professionals to discuss the theme "Compassion: The Practice of Restoring Human Connection." They explored compassion as one of the three qualities of global citizenship—alongside wisdom and courage—articulated by @daisakuikeda_of, and reflected on how they can put it into practice in their daily lives. The exhibition runs through Sep. 13. Okinawa was the site of the largest ground battle fought in Japan during World War II, in which approximately 1 in 4 residents lost their lives. In 1981, the Soka Gakkai Okinawa youth members began collecting paintings and drawings by survivors, capturing lived memories from a civilian perspective. Around 700 works were gathered and this exhibition displays 50 selected works, alongside panels on the history of the Battle of Okinawa. #SokaGakkai #SeikyoShimbun

🆕News: From May 20–22, an academic conference exploring the philosophies and friendship of the late Kyrgyz novelist Chingiz Aitmatov and @daisakuikeda_of was held in Kyrgyzstan. Their friendship gave rise to the published dialogue Ode to the Grand Spirit. The conference spanned three venues, including the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic in the capital, Bishkek. A Soka Gakkai delegation from Japan attended alongside scholars, students and officials, including Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Ulan Mamatkanov. Founded by Daisaku Ikeda in 1991, the House of Literature hosted this first-of-its-kind production by the theater company Les Âmes Bien Nées.
