Oh wow. What happened over at Authy? Did they get rid of their product design team and go with vibe coding instead? 🤯

Microservices actually seem quite well-suited to the new vibecoding era. Small scope, easy to reason about in a context window.

The main problem with vibe coding is that it turns your familiar codebase into the dreaded "somebody else's code". Here lies an opportunity, I think.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." (Arthur C. Clarke's third law) Which must explain why every user interface now has a little ✨ button which does something inexplicable.

I got all excited about Apple Intelligence. Asked Siri to answer a question for me and... "Here's what I found on Google" 😔 Is it not properly available in the UK yet then?

Kind of wishing I had a Cursor side-panel in Arc browser. "Find all the things on this page and do something based on them"

"Vote for policies not people" explains a lot about why this is still 50/50
18 Oct 2024
Naval is mistaken that you should focus on policies rather than people. Policies are just words, especially in an election year. It's easy to invent attractive-sounding policies. Whereas it's practically impossible for people to change their characters. You already know this.

An AI service that takes your existing social media avatar, and regenerates it based on recent photos of you so that it ages over time but still remains recognisable

I keep seeing the phrase "Human Eval" being used, and I have a spidey-sense that this is one of those terms we're going to look back on and shudder.

Setting up a Windows PC. Seriously... why does text still look like it's 1995 on these things?!

How does anyone on Microsoft's design team manage the stress of interface typography looking like this? I just can't comprehend it.

🎉New AI tool just launched! 🎉 "Aila" is an AI assistant to help teachers save time designing lessons. I've been working on this for the last year. It's a split-screen chat interface that builds a lesson plan in a conversational way. Once complete, the teacher can download an outline document, PowerPoint slides, quizzes and PDF worksheets.
Whether it’s creating bespoke resources or helping you tailor content to your class, Aila can transform your lesson prep. Aila will help speed things along —giving you more time to bring your lessons to life.

Behind this is a dynamic prompt, that's about 9,000 words long (!) that incorporates educational best practices and guidelines, pulls in relevant content from an existing database of several thousand lessons. So it includes prompt engineering, content anchoring, RAG, a relatively novel approach to avoiding hallucinations, schema validation on generated content, streaming, auto-moderation, threat detection for dangerous content... quite a lot in here over and above what you could do with ChatGPT by itself! You can try it out here: labs.thenational.academy

Prototypers assemble! 🦾🦾🦾
🚨 Hey folks I got something to announce: I am launching a new investment fund brand: Prototype Capital 🦾 A globally-active first-check investment fund. We focus on cool stuff that's technical hard to achieve, but also still new enough to be a bit weird – globally. Think Robotics in Eastern Europe, AI in SF, Software remotely, OpenSource SaaS, Space-tech in India, Reindustrialization of Europe, AI Agents in Brazil, among many others… - $100k-$200k - we say we invest early and we actually mean it - with every 5th investment we are the first to commit - only 6% of all ivnestments were after seed - the brand will be a larger umbrella for all kinds of stuff from our own prototypes 😬, to streams, to communities, to investinpublic transparency efforts - this is legally speaking a rebrand of my previous solo GP fund so we got track record to proof - we do about 15-20 investments per year Link in thread! 🔥 Please RT if you got a sec – Appreciate your launch support 🙏❤️
