Trying to get back on this horse! My latest post is my take (surprising and clever, of course) on why the ARPANET was such an important breakthrough, with a fun focus on the conference where the ARPANET was shown off for the first time: twobithistory.org/2021/02/07…

At last, after long four years, the horror and confusion of 2016 has been fully processed by our culture, revealing the ultimate truth about what it all meant:

Wouldn't it be GREAT if iMessage were clever enough to take your long, pre-composed essays and automatically split them into multiple extemporaneous-seeming texts?

Google delisted a post on my blog because my use of the word "did" in the title apparently infringes on the reality television show "Dance India Dance." It is now MY responsibility to contest this ridiculous complaint and get my page back into the search results. Thanks @google
What the hell!!?????????????????????? Google has stopped listing arguably my most successful post because it apparently infringes on a reality show called "Dance India Dance"?! Has anyone dealt with this before?

I love this mural in my grad school’s CS dept so much. Never has any artwork so powerfully induced in me the feeling of “wow, same”

I first heard about the FOAF (Friend of a Friend) standard back when I wrote my post about the Semantic Web. I thought it was a really interesting take on social networking and I've wanted to write about it since. Finally got around to it! twobithistory.org/2020/01/05…

Loving these photos of the decade round ups preceded by the warning “may contain graphic or objectionable content.” Indeed

I know it's been too long since my last post, but my new one is here! I wrote almost 5000 words on John Carmack, Doom, and the history of the binary space partitioning tree. twobithistory.org/2019/11/06…

whether disney or sony should have spiderman, or what would be necessary for them to cooperate and merge for the production of spiderman, are not even the right questions the answer is that spiderman was created in 1962 by the late stan lee and should be public domain by now
