Bringing together teens in our communities to have empowering conversations about substance use—and the dangers of fake prescription pills made with fentanyl—can protect Black families from losing more sons, daughters, brothers and sisters. As overdose rates are declining nationally, they are still rising in Black communities. ✨ Giving Season Match Alert! ✨ Every dollar you donate now through December 31 will be DOUBLED by our Board — meaning 2x the reach, 2x the impact, 2x the lives protected. This year alone, more than 500 schools across 47 states have requested our programs. Students, teachers, and parents are turning to us for trusted information — and thanks to supporters like you, we’re showing up. But nearly half of teens still don’t know that fake pills are often made with fentanyl. Your matched gift today helps us close that gap and protect even more young people. 💙 Donate Today : bit.ly/4pk1Yus

Song for Charlie joined hundreds of young leaders and changemakers from across the state of California at the 2025 @CFNLP Youth Summit in Anaheim where our lifesaving "no random pills" message was reinforced with tactile experiences including the fan favorite 2mg Challenge where students attempted to measure out that amount of sugar—which represents a potentially deadly dose of fentanyl. The reactions left a lasting impression and cause for pause moment when it comes to difficult decisions around experimentation in the deadly era of fentanyl and other substances.

Song for Charlie's first-ever barbershop event at the Weingart @YMCA brought together a community, barbers and people who have been impacted by fentanyl and fake prescription pills to educate others. These conversations are critical. As rates of overdose decline nationally, they are still rising in Black communities. As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, we premiered La Estrella, our new Spanish language film, at Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles. There were tears, hugs and conversations that went on for hours. La Estrella is now the centerpiece of La Nueva Drug Talk, our program bringing fentanyl awareness and mental health and wellness resources to Latino families. We're grateful to Jose Arellano, Fabian Debora, Mike de la Rocha, and everyone at Homeboy Industries for hosting us, and to Tepito Coffee/Revolve Impact and Homegirl Cafe for their support. The Song for Charlie team came together in Pasadena this week (with a few members missing!) to plan for 2026. We’re continuing our commitment to empowering parents, caregivers, and teens with education and resources that promote safety, awareness and healthy coping.
