Rather than increasing police presence and further militarizing schools, the Student Voice team demands that decisionmakers follow the lead of student organizers working to prevent the root causes of gun violence and reimagining public safety through a racial justice lens. 6/7

Finally, we denounce demands that young people immediately take action, rather than take space to mourn and grieve. Gun violence results from systems which have failed us. We deserve processing space, and believe our statement is more thoughtful for it. 7/7
