Moving forward with the work of Tell MAMA with independence from government: tellmamauk.org/coursing-a-pa… We would like to thank Lord Khan of Burnley in particular for his part in our discussions with the MHCLG and his expression of support for Tell MAMA in ensuring the offer of further funding. His determination to tackle anti-Muslim hate is heartening and motivating, and we value his desire to make a positive impact in this area of work. Lord Khan had said of our work: "Tell MAMA is a key partner in the Government's work to tackle anti-Muslim hatred and Islamophobia. "It has developed important initiatives to capture, monitor and report instances of anti-Muslim hatred that have helped to inform Government policy and has worked in communities and organisations to provide training for those who support victims. "MHCLG and its ministers do not have concerns about financial, structural, or governance issues in respect of Tell MAMA, that would preclude the signing of the 2024/25 GFA or continuing to fund Tell MAMA into 2025/26."

Just listen to this anti-Muslim bigotry that Laila Cunningham gets. Spend less than a minute listening to her. This anti-Muslim hate suggests that British Muslims who are part and parcel of Britain like @policylaila can’t be British. It is sickening stuff and must, must be challenged. She is British, courageous and of Muslim heritage. x.com/I_amMukhtar/status/206…

Russian saboteurs hired third operative for UK attacks. Our work detailed below: “Recovered images and videos from Direct Action’s now-deleted Telegram channel, preserved by the anti-Islamophobia group Tell MAMA, show that the group posted footage…” ft.com/content/8fa39826-9537…

Today marks ten years since the murder of Jo Cox by a far-right terrorist. We honour and remember her inspirational and boundless compassion. Our thoughts are with her loved ones and family. We cannot live with divisions; let us keep finding common ground.

There are no Sharia courts and the religious councils have no statutory powers. Questioning their existence is fine, but get the facts right. It is this kind of nonsense again, that adds to division. Meanwhile this Government is doing this to itself - tearing itself apart and saying there is a social cohesion strategy. Where is the action on this?

They are and we picked it up early. We sourced the videos and fed that into police and government sources early on. This has been going on since 2017 and we knew this. But anti-Muslim hate fomented internationally into the U.K. still does not seem to get taken seriously.
Russia is "creating fake online far-right and Muslim groups" to cause division. They are promoting a "relentlessly bleak view of the UK and spread racist abuse about migrants and Muslims". It is infecting our public debate and tearing our country apart. We must resist it.

It really is interesting to note in how many press piece headlines about how Russia targeted @Keir_Starmer, that the fact that the perpetrators were paid to target mosques and foment civil division is missing. Yet they were being paid through cryptocurrency to do so. We picked this up and fed it into police and Govt sources early on; the response was non-existent.

This is what is happening in communities meanwhile the Government is tearing itself apart, playing internal party politics and generally stuck in inaction

.@BBCPanorama on BBC 2 now highlighting the Tell MAMA report that outlined that the @Keir_Starmer attack carried out by two men was organised by Direct Action with cryptocurrency offerings originating from Russia. Russia was influencing anti-Muslim attacks to divide communities here in the U.K. Iman Atta OBE, the Director of Tell MAMA on BBC Panorama.

You seem to forget that they also targeted a number of mosques. Context matters in a case

As Kemi has said below. We are also cited in this piece on the research we did where those involved has repeatedly targeted mosques around fomenting division. “Tell Mama, a group which monitors anti-Muslim hate, also passed evidence to counter-terror police and concluded that Direct Action appeared to be a Russian operation. It received an acknowledgement but nothing more from police.”
Keir Starmer and I disagree on many things, but good people across the political spectrum will welcome today’s verdicts, condemn these appalling attacks which seem to have been sponsored by Russia, and wish the PM and his family well. Whatever our political differences, no one should face intimidation, threats or attacks because they hold public office. Democracy is settled at the ballot box, not through fear or violence and definitely not through foreign interference from hostile countries.

Good to see. PS: lots of Muslim women wear Hijabs but many Muslim women do not. Symbolising working with Muslims with a Hijab is fine to get your point of view across, but also recognise that many Muslims do not visibly wear their identity. They are also targeted for hate. There is also a large secular Muslim grouping. Do not forget their views and their identities.
Everyone should be able to live in safety and peace and no one should fear being targeted because of who they are. Deputy First Minister Jenny Gilruth visited community representatives following recent disorder. We stand in solidarity with all those affected by recent events.

'Iman Atta, Tell Mama's CEO, told us she believed such actions are not taken seriously by police, and it was worrying for Muslim communities to see a group offering cryptocurrency to vandalise mosques and create division. "It's something that is happening online, but it's actually moving directly into criminal damage and criminal acts of violence and terrorism on our streets," she said. The Met told the BBC it is investigating seven instances of criminal damage as anti-Muslim hate crimes. No arrests have been made and it is "keeping an open mind" whether offences are linked.' bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8r2…

Even the most basic reading of how Umayyad Muslim armies came to Spain would show Cleese that they were asked to intervene by one faction in a Visigothic civil war in Spain. Their entry into Southern Spain (Andalusia) was facilitated by Count Julian, a Visigothic noble, who required their intervention. So history is complex and mucky, but Cleese is willing to overlook that to promote a perspective of repeatedly linking Muslims to military violence and occupation.
Two hundred years after Mohammed's death, a Muslim army got half way up France before it was defeated Islamic armies had already invaded North Africa and Spain and large swathes of the Middle East Do you really think that was achieved by friendly persuasion ?
