“At the Cross” …we wanted to take this old 200 year old hymn and give it a fresh facelift. And who better to add swagger than Abe Parker. His style and voice were perfect for this reimagination. These lyrics are some of the most powerful on the entire project… all sin and shame erased when that cross appeared. I heard about Aubree Archibeck about 5 years ago when her dad randomly emailed me and sent me a video of her singing. I knew that someday we’d find something to collab on when the right song came along. And as I was working on this version of “How Great Thou Art” …Aubree immediately came to mind. I just knew. She was the perfect person to bring this song to the world. A combination of her heart, spirit, and her incredible voice. Jordan Smith does it again... one of my fav people, one of my fav voices. It was a no brainer to ask him to carry this new version of “My Jesus I Love Thee” on my new album, THE RESURRECTION OF A KING. His powerhouse vocals always delivers chills on anything he sings… and that holds true once again on this reworking of this old hymn, with new choruses, that acts as a response to the cross. The 2nd verse sums it all up… “I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me; and purchased my pardon on Calvary's tree; I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow; If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, 'tis now”. Isaac Mather was one of the first people I asked to be a part of this project. And I could hear him singing this hymn in my head, and knew how powerful it would be. His voice makes you FEEL what he’s singing. The passion, the pain, the desperation. He’s one of the most emotive vocalists I’ve ever heard. I love the powerful parts… but the ending, the soft ending… it moves you just as much by the tenderness. It’s hard not to cry. So thankful for this moment we got to share on the new album, THE RESURRECTION OF A KING. Also, the FULL VIDEO for this song is now on YouTube!!
