Happy 25th birthday to the current Bristol Children’s Hospital building! 🎉 Today marks a truly momentous milestone as Bristol Children’s Hospital celebrates 25 years in its purpose-built home, alongside an incredible 160-year legacy of caring for babies, children and young people from across the region. What better way to kick off the celebrations than with cupcakes? To mark this special occasion, The Grand Appeal is delivering cupcakes for every member of hospital staff between Wednesday and Friday. To get the celebrations started, Wallace & Gromit will be delivering the first batch of birthday treats. 🎂 Bristol Children's Hospital opened in 2001 at a cost of £30 million and was the UK’s first purpose-built hospital designed exclusively for children, setting a new benchmark for paediatric care. An incredible £12 million of that total was raised by The Grand Appeal through its very first capital appeal, spearheaded by Wallace & Gromit with the support of @aardman. These cupcakes are just the beginning of the anniversary celebrations. 🌟 We’d love to hear your own memories of the children's hospital over the past 25 years! 💙

Feeling unwell and don’t know where to go?  Self-care at home - Visit NHS.uk to check your symptoms and find out how to treat minor illnesses at home.  Ask your pharmacist - Pharmacists will advise you on medicines and help with common problems like coughs, colds, rashes and allergies.  Speak to your GP - For health concerns that won’t go away.  Contact NHS 111 - When you’re not sure what to do and it’s not  life-threatening, visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111.  Minor Injury Units - For injuries that need urgent attention, but are not life-threatening, such as cuts, sprains and minor burns.  A&E - For life-threatening illness and injury.

When a loved one is ready to leave hospital there are a few things family, friends or carers can do to help. Please talk to the team planning their care if you think you can help in any way, as this may mean they can go home a few days earlier.❤️

Arrange transport and check that house keys are available. Ensure they have suitable clothes to travel home. Check there's milk in the fridge and food in the cupboards. Turn on the heating.
