A lot of people keep repeating that Morocco’s 11 starters were “all born outside Morocco” as if that proves something.
What they conveniently ignore is the most important part: they are 100% Moroccan.
People have become too obsessed with birthplace and forget what nationality, heritage, culture and identity actually mean.
Look, you’re French. If you had a child with your French partner in England or Germany, that child would still be French. Birth location doesn’t erase blood, roots or identity.
The same applies to Moroccans in the diaspora. Being born in Spain, France or Belgium doesn’t make them any less Moroccan.
Morocco is one of the few national teams playing with players who fully embrace their culture, roots and identity.
