The same reason Disney parks have seen a similar enshitification since then: Social media. The more people who can’t go, the cooler you look for being there. People have taught corporations they will pay anything to have cool pictures and videos for Instagram and TikTok.
does anyone have an explanation for why concert tickets were $35 fifteen years ago and now they're $350

Every time I see a post from Amtrak I go on their website and try to book a weekend trip to Chicago and discover it’ll take longer than driving, cost more money, and I’ll spent all, if not most of, that time not on a train, but on a bus instead. I’ve been trying for 15 years.

This is the kind of stuff I do in my head but don’t tell anyone about.

Agree 10000%, It doesn’t even math. Let’s just look at USA. 350m people, appx 100m households. You buy a mattress maaaaybe once every 10 years. So in any given year, the entire mattress market sells 10m mattresses. I’d guess at least half are now online ship to your house so you’re looking at perhaps 5m mattresses spread over a year at ALL locations. The internet tells me there are 10k stores across the USA, let’s just average a mattress at $1500, so each store maybe makes $750k a year/$62k a month before any expenses. It’s unsustainable! Impossible!

A great way to wrap up the first 250 years of a distinctly diverse and weird country. We’re like if the Romans had Internet.

Evangelicals have mastered the art of manufacturing outrage to grift off of Christians. They have ready-made PR campaigns and everything. Impressive. I respect the hustle.

Was off to a GREAT start but then they broke a time-tested rule: Don’t gimmick the gimmick. A show about aliens feeding off of old people in a retirement community is enough. Working in the ā€œmotherā€ stuff was weird and quickly shifted the feel and tone of the show.

There’s a small two-block section of a little neighborhood in downtown Indianapolis, and most of the residents are doctors and nurses, and one thing I alway see while walking though the area, is how many of them go on evening walks as much as possible. It’s like eating to them.

I’m about to do something really special for local television nerds and I really hope one day y’all thank me. There’s only like 100 of us left out there.

It’s funny to me that people can widely accept the concept of this animal: a mammal that lays eggs and produces venom, but some of those same people fight to deny the existence of trans people. Sometimes nature makes a new version of something and thats ok. It’s just different šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø
The platypus is one of nature's greatest mysteries. It lays eggs, produces venom, hunts using electroreception, and was once thought to be a scientific hoax because its appearance seemed too strange to be real

Trump has lost in iran. They are fully in control. Global inventories are running out. Energy crisis about to hit that will make 2022 seem like a breeze. Asia, which is where roughly 40% of the world's manufacturing takes place is going to take the biggest hit first then Europe. We wont run out of gas or oil, whether you'llbe able to afford it is a different subject. Maga has literally made everyone's life in the entire world shittier other than the epstein pedo billionaire class they support. The world is being held hostage by the dumbest sacks of shit in our society. This is by far the worst strategic mistake of my lifetime and the repercussions will be felt for at least a generation. You cannot hate these ppl enough. Their stupidity has ruined us.
BREAKING: President Trump responds after Iran ends all negotiations with the US, per CNBC. "I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less," Trump says. He also said he was "going to ask" Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu "what’s going on with Lebanon."
