Lalaina Andrianamelasoa, #Madagascar's Water Minister, said the country has some of Africa's largest freshwater supplied but has not optimised it, leaving parts vulnerable to drought. "We need a 360 approach to water that considers people, energy, agriculture & infrastructure."

Ensuring everyone has a decent toilet involves lots of coordination. Waste has to be disposed of safely by a system that is supported by skilled workers, appropriately financed, and resilient to extreme weather events. When done right, the benefits are enormous. #WorldToiletDay

Floodwater can cause human waste to overflow and pollute communal water sources. Sanitation is only safe if it continues to function or is restored quickly after climate-related events and other shocks.  #WorldToiletDay
