English translation of this thread! Having written about Xinjiang for three years, I’ve been asking myself repeatedly: why must I write about what’s happening in the Uighur community? How great of a risk am I taking? Is it worth it? I have several points I want to make. 1/

This is actually a darn good idea
Looks like someone does not want me to read their posts. Maybe it’s because they just can’t handle critics? Twitter should set up a rule: officials from a country that bans Twitter are not allowed to use the service. That makes the internet cleaner.

I'd be lying if I wasn't disturbed by the prospect of causing anti-Chinese racism when advocating against the encroachment of China's Communist Party in Canada, but it's a matter of seeing the bigger picture at this point

1/ If you travel to Uyghur communities unable to read and speak Uyghur and/or Chinese, you are essentially blind and deaf to the state's everyday violence. Let's begin in Kashgar with the "illegal religious activities" posted outside every religious site (take note of #20)
