I typically struggle with downtime and relaxing on breaks. This year we have added 2 puppies to our family so my break is being spent potty training and cuddling pups. I have no desire to do anything work related. Best stress relief ever!

Thing are not OK in Oklahoma! SB397 introduced yesterday forces school and public libraries to have a rating system for their books with the words 'deemed suitable for XXX age group' being the only determination of how the rating system is applied.

After reading The Donut Fix by @jessiejanowitz to a 3rd grade group this week, I had a hankering to try making jelly filled donuts. These could have used 1 more minute for a better color, but otherwise they were great.

If the goal is to create readers, then let them read what they want at home/free-time, even comics. Comic books average 53.5 rare words per thousand, compared with an average of 30.9 rare words per thousand in children's books, and also higher than the adult average of 52.7

Lower Division had some unexpected visitors this week! Members of Casady's staff, faculty, and administration volunteered to read storybooks in class, and a few lucky classes were even read a book about Michael Jordan by professional basketball player Sacha Killeya-Jones!
