VIDEO | "My journey has been very turbulent, to this extent that even in the very beginning, when I started building my own brand, which was in early 2019, I of course heard that I was delusional, utopian they told me, and that everything that I advocate for doesn't make sense and that this is not serious work. But, of course, this is me and I wasn't listening, because I already knew that for me it was serious work," remote work advocate Nadia Harris told PTI on sidelines of recently held Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

"Story is again, turbulence. I was born and raised in Germany. I was part of the typical German culture, but in addition to that my mother is Polish. My father and part of my family is originally American. So, I was everywhere a little bit, so to say. And I didn't feel that I belonged anywhere, at the end of the day," says Nadia Harris.

VIDEO | "My laptop is my office, and I usually take it with me everywhere. And, within this office, I am able to work with multiple companies and connect. I have all the tools and software. So, I work with companies, myself as a consultant. So, building flexible working solutions, from legal perspective but also the processes, also from a tech perspective, all of the tools. Also, in terms of inter-cultural collaboration, because it's very important. Because, when companies go global, there are cultural clashes. And this is exactly what I do. I am also with some companies as part of their teams, so, I call myself a fractional HR professional as well, meaning not doing it full-time," says Nadia Harris when asked what she does for a living.

What makes remote work truly effective? Itโ€™s more than flexibilityโ€”it requires strategy, tracking, and commitment from both organizations and individuals. #GLMC #GLMC2025

"Proximity bias is an unconscious tendency where people in positions of power or in leadership positions tend to favor the people close to them. So, in other words, I see you- that means you're going to be treated better." - Nadia Harris, shorturl.at/amHKN

NEW!! on @WorkersRock Podcast, Nadia Harris a Remote Work Advocate (London) paints a vivid picture of the transformative effects of remote work on society, touching on everything from urban living patterns to gender equality and environmental impact. The shift towards remote work is reshaping cities, with downtown areas seeing an influx of residents as office buildings are repurposed into living spaces.
