Anleigh Wood - Wicksburg High School
Wood finished her sophomore season with outstanding all around numbers. She batted .588 with a .661 on-base percentage, collecting 80 hits, 72 runs scored, 57 RBIs, and 20 doubles. Wood also hit a staggering 27 home runs, establishing herself as one of the nation’s most dangerous hitters.
Her remarkable power numbers made her the nation’s leading home run hitter in the Class of 2028 and left her tied for second overall in the nation regardless of class.
Wood helped lead Wicksburg to a fourth-place finish in the AHSAA Class 3A State Tournament. Her final home run of the season was especially memorable, as it marked the 50th home run of her high school career. She also surpassed the 200-hit career milestone during the season, adding another achievement to an already impressive sophomore campaign.
