Housing affordability matters to families across the country. After two months of feedback and collaboration, the House will vote this week on bipartisan improvements to the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act focused on expanding homeownership, enhancing affordability, and increasing housing supply.

Today, NMHC joined 10 other national organizations in sending a letter to Congressional leadership expressing strong support for the revised 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.
The updated legislation preserves Build-to-Rent housing, protecting the development of hundreds of thousands of rental homes and the residents who call them home.

The conversation around the 21st Century Road to Housing Act has been loud and fast-moving, but our position hasn't changed.
NMHC and @NAAhq are calling on Congress to fix the Build-to-Rent provisions and pass this bill into law. The path forward is clear, but without a fix, we're looking at more than 72,000 homes lost every year and higher costs for everyone.
Flawed language in the current bill has already halted development, forced layoffs and threatens to displace residents from BTR communities.
